Seasons of Celebrations
More than a list of dates, the Jewish calendar comes to life at Wilshire as a cycle of joy and reflection that draws our community together in every season.Make each holiday a doorway into connection, celebration, and song.

High Holy Days
The Days of Awe bring us together as one community to reflect, reconnect, and begin again.
You’ll find many ways to participate:
- Inspiring services across campuses and online
- Programming for children and teens
- Preparation classes and spiritual reflections
- Opportunities to give, volunteer, and support others
The Jewish Year at Wilshire
Sukkot
We gather under the open sky to share meals, shake the lulav, and celebrate gratitude. Families build sukkahs, kids create art, and our campuses come alive with the season.
Simchat Torah
We dance with the scrolls and sing the joy of a never-ending story. Join us to unroll the Torah, honor our learners, and celebrate the cycle of wisdom.
Chanukah
Light the candles with us, on campus, at home, and in public spaces. With music, food, and community celebration, we turn darkness into light and rededicate ourselves to Jewish life.
Tu BiShvat
This “New Year for the Trees” becomes a celebration of our connection to the earth. Enjoy community plantings, nature-inspired learning, and reflections on Jewish sustainability.
Purim
Laugh, dress up, make noise, and give generously. Our Purim carnival, Megillah readings, and costume parties are filled with energy, tradition, and joy.
Passover (Pesach)
Freedom takes center stage. Join us for communal seders, prep classes, and intergenerational learning that brings ancient themes into today’s world.
Yom HaShoah & Yom HaZikaron
We honor memory and courage through powerful gatherings, music, and reflection. These moments ground us in history and connect us through remembrance.
Yom HaAtzmaut
Celebrate Israel’s Independence Day with food, music, and dancing. It’s a community-wide celebration filled with pride and connection.
Shavuot
We stay up late to study and reflect. From community learning to cheesecake and the story of Ruth, Shavuot brings wisdom and wonder.
More Than Observance. A Shared Experience.
Throughout the year, you’ll find:
- Services that uplift and welcome all generations
- Learning experiences for every age and stage
- Community meals and hands-on celebrations
- Opportunities to give back and mark time meaningfully
- A special “holiday tuneāup” class for adults before each holiday, offering fresh insights, traditions, and ways to make each celebration your own
Every holiday is an invitation to show up, share, and celebrate.
